About Personal Touch Quilting
Hello, My name is Monty.
I am a "people" person who feels a great sense of satisfaction in helping others. I was a career Firefighter in Colorado for 39 years. I retired in 1977 and moved to Peoria so my wife Dana and I could be closer to our grandchildren. I must admit that swapping a snow shovel for a swimming pool contributed to our decision! My passion for helping others carries over into my quilting. My goal is to help you complete what began as a project and becomes a beautiful quilt, hence the name; Personal Touch Quilting.
My interest in quilting began when my wife, Dana, and I purchased a quilt store in Berthoud CO. I learned about fabric, how to match colors, piece tops, do bindings, and all of the fun things that are a part of quilting. What I did not learn was the actual quilting process. Dana and I sent our quilts out to have someone else quilt them. We have since sold the business, yet our passion for quilting remains strong.
As I neared retirement from the fire service, I wondered what I would do with my spare time. The process of quilting with a longarm machine fascinates me so I decided to purchase one and do our own quilting. I purchased a Innova longarm quilting machine and went to work. I enjoyed it so much that a year later I added Autopilot to the machine and started quilting for other people.
I really enjoy the art of quilting. It combines a machine, computer programming, tools, fabric, color, planning, and creativity. Best of all is the sense of accomplishment and gratification of being part of something that ultimately provides years of comfort and pleasure.
Services I will provide:
- I will quilt a variety of projects, quilts, table runners, etc.
- My machine is computerized so I have the ability to size and sew digital patterns, follow paper pantographs, or do free motion quilting on your project.
- I can sew the binding to the front of the quilt.
- I can trim off the excess fabric and batting.
